About Us

Shopping at Santa Kilim is often compared to meandering through a Moroccan souk, searching through an exclusive collection of hand-crafted treasures. Karim Saidi has been bringing some of the best Moroccan textiles, architectural elements and accessories to Santa Fe since he established Santa Kilim in 1991. Born in Fez, Morocco, a city founded in the 9th century, Karim grew up surrounded by the architectural detail of gilded wood, wrought iron and hand-cut mosaic tile created by the remarkable artisans of a magical city.

In Santa Fe, Karim found reminders of Morocco echoed in the landscape and adobe architecture and a fitting place for Moroccan arts. Textiles and weavings were part of Karim’s early life and his appreciation of his own Berber heritage expanded to include an interest in collecting the tribal arts of other parts of Africa, Central Asia, Anatolia, and Persia. The diverse collection at Santa Kilim now includes hand-woven textiles, kilims and carpets from all of these regions and a vast array of architectural elements, furniture, and accessories that would make wonderful additions to homes anywhere.

The mission of Santa Kilim is to introduce the beauty of ancient workmanship into daily lives and contemporary homes. The work of the family-run business has been a journey of learning and discovery, a continuous hunt for treasures, and a great pleasure of collaboration with our clients. Welcome.
